When I went to college (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) in the late 70’s / early 80’s, there was a persistant joke about the mythical test paper was handed in where the student, instead of showing the complete derivation as required, simply wrote “The solution to this problem is intuitively obvious to even the most casual of observers, and its completion is left as an exercise to the grader.”

That phrase always stuck with me, and has been the title of several blogs (on websites long since dead), and was even the tag line for my EMail signature for a while. It just seems to fit my personality.
